AKR not only values wild animals - we also rescue all sorts of domestic and rural creatures. Through public education we aim to improve respect for animals as sentient beings. We are proud to have developed new and exciting partnerships with like-minded individuals, organisations and institutions. AKR is also developing a new model for koala and wildlife rescue and rehabilitation in SA incorporating education and research. We are developing a range of rehabilitation facilities in SA that support our research aims. AKR is a not-for-profit organisation and registered Australian charity. Due to the volume of admissions we manage daily, we have little time for fundraising. The cost of treating more than 50 admissions a month is high and AKR funds large and regular bills for medication, laboratory testing, surgical procedures, rescue equipment, rehabilitation facilities, formula for orphaned animals, nutritional supplements for sick animals and other veterinary supplies.
