WEN provides programs and services that activate employment preparation, financial coaching, and case management to support women who are unemployed, underemployed, and/or trapped in the cycle of poverty and empower them to enter or re-enter the workforce. Our holistic approach provides an accessible on-ramp to livable-wage jobs and long-term financial stability. All of our services are offered completely free of charge to more than 1,000 clients each year.

WEN helps women become job ready, establish career goals, secure employment, reduce debt, and build credit. We use the acclaimed Financial Opportunity Centers model which combines employment preparation, financial coaching, and economic support services and is shown to be more effective than employment assistance alone. Our organization serves women living in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area. WEN clients are 38% Black, 42% white, 10% Asian, 7% Latiné, and 3% indigenous. 59% are ages 45-64, 39% are 25-44, and 2% are 19-24. 33% of WEN clients live below the federal poverty level, and 74% are very low income, earning less than 50% of the Kansas City metro's median income.
