At Whanake House Charitable Trust we foster social and vocational development for rangatahi/young adults (18 years and over) with high functioning disabilities, addressing a significant gap in local services available to them. We support rangatahi to transition into greater independence, community participation, and meaningful life opportunities. Many of the rangatahi we work with experience barriers such as social isolation, limited access to safe and supported activities, challenges with confidence and communication, and restricted opportunities to build practical life skills. Our range of holistic programmes, workshops and social activities are designed to address these barriers directly by enhancing life skills, wellbeing and work readiness. These opportunities build confidence and independence, empowering rangatahi to pursue further educational, social, and employment pathways while contributing positively to their community and the local workforce.
