Warm Paws currently supports 60 rural and outback pounds across NSW with donated supplies, to assist in the care of the animals and relieve some of the burden on rangers. We rely on volunteer transporters to take care packages to as many pounds across rural and outback regions of NSW as possible. They are mostly underfunded and geographically remote, with limited resources for food, let alone beds, blankets, coats, toys etc, necessary to provide basic levels of support. Warm Paws support is particularly critical during the winter months, as many precious poundies die due to the extreme cold temperatures in these regions, before having any chance of being saved, sent to rescue and finding a life they deserve.

In September 2023 Warm Paws began a vaccination program to assist pounds and their communities in controlling Canine Parvovirus, a highly contagious, resilient and aggressive disease that is extremely prevalent in rural and outback areas. Parvovirus is a serious threat to our puppies and dogs, especially in regional areas where vaccination and pet responsibility are extremely low. In pound environments with no treatment available, 100% of affected dogs will die a painful death, or if lucky, they will be euthanised. These vaccinations are funded in the main by public donations So far, we have vaccinated over 1000 rural and outback pound dogs & puppies. Due to our consistent vaccination protocol over the last 12 months, our success rate of dogs leaving the pound parvo free is 95.5%.
