The Village
About us
Our Mission is to build a global community of sustainable ‘villages’ that reach across barriers and boundaries, by integrating people who would otherwise be excluded from society so they can live and thrive.
We do this by providing holistic support, based on universal pillars of community: Home, School, Theatre, Market, Garden and Sacred Space. At our core is the recognition that we are more alike than different and therefore equally deserving of opportunity, wellbeing and purpose. We hope through our work, we can enable people to build bridges and see themselves in others.
Since 2018, we have developed social impact projects in Lesotho, Southern Africa, the West Bank, Palestine and in the Midlands, UK; delivering programmes in line with our six pillars of community: Home, School, Theatre, Market, Garden and Sacred Space. A cornerstone of our purpose-driven activities is to improve access to education, skills and knowledge so individuals can sustain their own future and communities can thrive on their own.
Donating to our charity will enable us to:
- Launch 'The Garden of Solihull' to deliver pop-up sessions for women and their young children from disadvantaged communities who have limited access to green spaces. The sessions will focus on growing fresh produce, planning healthy meals, growing plants and cultivating green spaces.
- Grow 'The Village of Lesotho' school and skills college so we can support the wellbeing, education and skills development of orphans and vulnerable young Herd Boys who work for local farmers as Shepherds. The program has started with 13 boys and spans over a period of two years after which they will be issued with certificates that they can use to either seek employment or start their own trade. Further funding would enable us to work with more young people who are receiving limited or no education at present and to kick-start more enterprising activities with those currently involved in the Skills College.
