ReachOut helps young people, aged 9-14, from underprivileged communities across London and Manchester develop the confidence, resilience and social-emotional skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.

Investment in UK youth services has dropped by 75% in the last decade. Inequality, poverty, and mental health problems among young people are sharply rising, and so is the skills ‘gap’. At the start of secondary school, disadvantaged pupils are 10 months behind their wealthier peers, and this gap doubles by the time they reach their GCSEs.

We deliver transformational after-school mentoring projects. Our youth practitioners and volunteer mentors act as positive adult role models, helping young people to develop in six key areas: empathy, responsibility, teamwork, problem solving, emotion management, and initiative.

These foundational Socio-Emotional Skills help them develop confidence and self-belief, build friendships, sustain the motivation and resilience to thrive in school, and nurture their mental health and wellbeing.
