The Tarim Network works to provide cultural, educational, and career-oriented support to Uyghur and Turkic youth around the world. As a population whose homeland has undergone settler colonialism and genocide, with much of the diaspora unable to access support, family, or community back home, it is imperative that we step up to fill in the network that our marginalised youth are facing. We do this by creating a platform where Uyghurs can connect to each other online, considering many are scattered around the world and do not know who they can turn to for help. These networks provide mental health and career-oriented advice in of itself, however, we also offer seminars and classes on subjects such as Uyghur language and history, or advice on entrepreneurship and college, and so on. We create spaces for Uyghur artists and writers to share their work with a broader audience, grants to groups of Uyghur youth for projects to change their communities for the better, internship opportunities for those struggling to get a foot in the door due to poor resources, and are creating partnerships with schools, student mentorship groups, and mental health support services to connect our network to much needed resources.
