The Retreat Animal Rescue is home to over 1200 animals: ex-farmed animals (cows, sheep, pigs, goats, rheas, chickens, geese, ducks, quail, and turkeys), domesticated animals (cats, rabbits, horses, donkeys, tortoises, dogs), and lots of wildlife, including hundreds treated in our wildlife hospital every year (pigeons, foxes, hedgehogs, corvids, seagulls, and other native wildlife)

We have a strict no kill policy, always giving every animal every opportunity to live their life to the fullest, regardless of disability or cost to us. Of course, if an animal is in pain and no treatment can be found, we will euthanise for their own welfare, but we will always seek alternatives to this whenever possible - we firmly believe that every animal in this world deserves a life free from pain, suffering, and exploitation.

With so many animals in our care, our daily running costs are several hundred pounds, excluding vets' bills - food, hay, bedding, water, maintaining safe and comfortable housing, and enrichment for these animals doesn't come cheap, so we greatly appreciate all donations, however big or small 💚
