Freecycle.org is a web community where people are empowered to give free used items away in their own local community instead of throwing these items away. Everyone can give and everyone can receive. As a charity, Freecycle is free and open to all. The Freecycle Network consists of over 11 million members in some 5,000 local communities gifting tens of thousands of items every day on a globally local basis. As a result we are keeping over a thousand tons a day of still good used stuff out of landfills. Our goal is to make it easier to give an item away than to throw an item away... and way  more fun! 2/3rds of all items donated to thrift stores are disposed of as they have no resale value. Freecycle solves this problem with its "power to the people" mission.
