The Animal Rehoming Service Inc (TARS) is a Melbourne based registered charity which has found loving, permanent homes for thousands of pets and farm animals, since it was established in 2000. Since 2014 we’ve focussed mainly on rehoming dogs.

TARS offers assisted rehoming, where owners get to choose a suitable home for their particular dog, from a shortlist of thoroughly vetted homes. There's a phone call with potential new owners, a meet and greet and then a trial period to ensure the family and dog are perfectly suited. This also ensures a less stressful transition for the dog and gives owners peace of mind.

We also provide enriching foster homes for dogs in need, when assisted rehoming isn’t possible.

Our dogs are desexed, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped before they’re advertised. Other, more complex vet work is also done as required.

We provide ongoing support and advice to those adopting through us, for the life of their new dog.

We also provide rehoming and general pet advice to anyone who contacts us, whether they’ve used us or not, as we always try to help as many pets and their owners as we can.

Please help TARS continue our life saving work, by adopting, donating or sharing what we do with your animal loving friends.
