Every day we recue dogs and save lives at Texas Best Choices Animal Rescue.   

 We are not a big corporation with a huge budget. We are working people that rescue dogs because we are supposed to and in our area there is a huge need! We feel a great calling to help the animals who cannot help themselves and we so appreciate every gift  to help us meet the financial needs of saving lives and My Giving circle inspires us to do all that we can do!

Ally is one of those special rescues that reinforces our purpose and highlights the financial burden that we must overcome! Ally was found in a garbage bag tied with a cord. The man that found her brought her to our gate after we were closed for the day. When we explained that we were full and had a waiting list but that we would make room for her, he said he would just shoot her if we did not take her right then. We opened the dirty crate and found a listless puppy with red raw skin and open sores including a dinner plate size abrasion on her left flank. Her feet seemed deformed and she had a hopeless look in her eyes. There was no choice but to save this baby’s life.

We immediately began treatment for her wounds and gave her a quiet safe place with a soft bed and food and water to start her recovery process. We knew her prognosis was questionable but had no idea within a few days she would be very ill and the Vet diagnosed her with parvo. Her immune system was so compromised she could not fight off the deadly puppy disease. Fighting parvo is an expensive and frightening ordeal but we knew we had to fight for baby Ally. Many days on IV fluids and around the clock care along with TLC for baby Ally helped Ally to fight as well! Our girl is a survivor and survive she did.

Ally’s sad eyes had the light of hope return to them as her health slowly improved. Back at the rescue, we showered her with love and tender care. Slowly she became an affectionate and outgoing little pup. Her deformed feet were a result of poor nutrition and exercise and even they improved. She was experiencing LOVE for the first time and no longer had to worry about finding food, water, shelter or the basics of life.

News of Ally’s story grew and a friend of ours in Los Angeles helped us arrange an adoption with a friend of hers all the way to Connecticut! Becky even flew in from LA and delivered Ally partway to her new parents!

 Ally’s story is amazing but she is just one of many that require extraordinary care.
