With one in five Australians experiencing a mental illness in any given year and youth suicide the highest killer of our young people, our work is crucial not only to our young people but to everyone affected in our communities. At Talk out Loud we provide targeted suicide prevention initiatives, activities and programs for young people under 30 years of age. Our main mission is to equip young people with the tools to maintain a healthy mental, physical and emotional lifestyle using a positive mindset approach. We are run completely by volunteers who are passionate about removing the stigma associated with mental health. The majority of our volunteers share lived experience with suicide grief, have had or are currently struggling with a mental health condition. Our Youth Empowerment camps aim to empower young people who have a range of mental health conditions, with a stronger sense of self-awareness and self-belief by giving them tools that they can use in their day to day lives, by doing this our youth are better equipped to help themselves and others.
