We are a group of 125 pensioners (at present) spread across 5 venues in Midlesbrough and East Cleveland recovering from cardiac events including cardiac arrest, heart bypass surgery and other heart related problems.  We provide friendly, welcoming and encouraging support for both members and their families. Our classes, held weekly, are run by BACPR (British Association for Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation level 4) qualified tutors and include a variety of heart supporting exercise and relaxation techniques. These are designed to promote heart health and prevent re-admission to hospital.  There is also a social aspect to these meetings giving re-assurance to the unsure and that life can continue be fulfilling. Comparing symptoms and giving support to one another is vital for some of our members.  We hold various fundraising events during the year to support our dwindling funds and advertise our presence to the community at large hoping to encourage new members to join our group and be supported to regain fitness both mentally and physically. Without funding our group will run out of funds in about 5 years due to the rising cost of room hire and replacing worn out equipment.  We cannot continue to ask our members for larger and larger membership fees as pensions only stretch so far.
