The South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL) is a Nevada City-based non-profit organization whose mission is to unite the community to protect and restore the Yuba watershed – a critical river system located in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range between Tahoe and Sacramento.  We have an award-winning science and restoration program which brings life back to imperiled headwater meadows and riverbanks impacted by hydraulic mining. We have a robust “River People program” which engages thousands of community members in volunteering their time to protect our natural resources and advocate for clean water and forest health. Our education programs create lifelong stewards of the Yuba River watershed by providing educational opportunities for kindergarteners through adults. And we run a world-renowned environmental and adventure film festival – the Wild & Scenic Film Festival – which reaches more the 100,000 audience members annually, inspiring them to take action for a sustainable future.

• SYRCL was founded on the premise “People can save a River”. SYRCL strives to be the center of collective action and inspiration to fight threats to the Yuba watershed, and anywhere its water flows.
