The organization was founded in honor of SSG Marc Small, fiance of Amanda Charney-Berardi, MA, CCC-SLP, our founder.  SSG Small was killed in action in Afghanistan while serving his country in the Army Special Forces.  The mission of Small Steps in Speech is to help children with speech and/or language disorders take the steps needed to be better communicators.Since 2009 Small Steps has awarded grants totaling close to $2,000,000 to over 1400 children across the United States who desperately needed our help to get the treatment required to become better communicators.  The grants awarded to these children have made a tremendous impact which has truly been life changing for the children as well as their families.All of our grant money is obtained through donations and fundraisers and we need YOUR help to be able to continue our mission.
