About us
The Sheriff's Youth Foundation (SYF) is in urgent need of support to continue serving youth in disadvantaged and low-income communities. Through our Youth Activities League (YAL) programs, SYF supports 12 after-school sites where sheriff deputies mentor, lead, and uplift the youth they serve. These deputies aren’t just peace officers; they are role models and mentors, providing a haven after school during the most critical hours of the day, teaching leadership, life skills, and character through a wide variety of sports, activities, and experiences they wouldn’t otherwise have access to. From team sports and arts to field trips and youth leadership conferences, our programs are designed to inspire and empower all year long.
Families consistently tell us they’ve seen a remarkable change in their children after joining, showing more confidence, discipline, and hope. Many of our parents were either once YAL teens themselves or had their older children enrolled and continue to bring their children back, a testament to the program’s long-term impact.
But we’re at a critical need of as much help we can get. Despite the tremendous need, we’re close to shutting down one of our soccer fields due to rising costs and a lack of flexible funding. Most grants are too restricted to help and have conned off a major part of the field, which means less play. Our programs need beautification, maintenance, and professional services, but we can’t afford them without your help.
Just because our youth come from low-income families doesn’t mean they should get less. They deserve the best so they can become the best version of themselves. Help us keep these programs alive so we can continue to offer valuable services for today's youth and the next generation.
