In Puerto Rico, after Hurricane Maria, the Elderly population was largely neglected, experiencing various needs such as lack of access to food, healthcare, and, in most cases, facing loneliness. SFM Charities was born with the purpose of providing holistic services to underserved populations including the deaf community. Our organization offers a comprehensive service that addresses all the needs of elderly simultaneously, as they often lack the capacity to go from office to office or even manage tasks on their own. Through Angel's Community Kitchen, we deliver food to the homes of the elderly, while our professionals identify all the individual's needs. Our team consists of social workers, lawyers, Community Outreach, psychologists, and case managers.The food we provide is a way to assist and sustain older adults while their situations are being resolved, aiming for an improved quality of life. That is why we strive to ensure that no one experiences an undignified need, and that our elderly are not condemned to die in loneliness. Our commitment is to honor the lives of those who have built our society and eradicate the culture that encourages us to abandon those who may no longer appear productive.
