Featuring four operas—both well-known and lesser known, artistically important works—in rotating repertory, Sarasota Opera welcomes audiences into the historic Sarasota Opera House to share the experience of exquisitely executed art and the power of the human voice. We believe opera is a powerful tool to build a culturally vibrant community. Coming together to experience the nexus of all the fine arts, led by the amazing talent of the unamplified human voice, is a way to strengthen bonds worn down by a myriad of stressors in day-to-day life. Using this belief as our guide, we build a calendar of educational and community-building events centered around the main titles of the festival to increase conversation, social engagement, and increased knowledge of the art form. In addition, Sarasota Opera is dedicated to music education and the development of emerging artists. The Sarasota Youth Opera fills a great need of providing music education to youth aged 8-18, while our Apprentice and Studio Artist programs provide practical training to artists just beginning their careers. It is our hope each season that through these performances and programs, the joy of music and the exhibition of world-class talent brings members of our community closer together.
