Rural Health Care Initiative (RHCI) is a Minnesota (USA) based nonprofit (EIN# 45-0766007) with this mission:

To partner with rural communities in Sierra Leone to redevelop health care systems and to overcome one of the world's highest rates of maternal and child mortality. RHCI is a registered NGO in Sierra Leone.

RHCI's programs include:

• Birth Waiting Homes

• Children's Health and Malnutrition

• Food Security

• Health System strengthening, working with 4 government health centers to provide mobile outreach clinics in 16 villages, much needed resources such as medical supplies, transportation and training

Examples of RHCI's impact in the past year:

1. Over 13,000 child medical visits

2. 445 Pregnant women stayed at the Birth Waiting Homes; No maternal mortality

3. Over 400 critically ill children and pregnant women with OB complications transported to hospital and expenses covered

4. Over 5000 Family planning consultations and care

5. 402 Basic OB ultrasounds, to identify risk factors requiring referral

6. 3251 Malaria Case Management visits by Community Health Workers

7. Training for 125 Community Health Workers

8. 2567 Newborn nurse home visits

9. 6771 nurse immunization visits for children

10. Training and support for 45 farmers (mostly women)
