We are an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing vital programs for families with seriously ill children, keeping families close. Since we opened our very first Ronald McDonald House in Victoria in 1986, our Chapter has expanded to provide essential services in Melbourne, regional Victoria and Hobart. We support sick children and their families though our accommodation and support services, we strive to keep families together when life gets turned upside down due to a child’s serious illness. Our Ronald McDonald Houses and Programs are run by a tirelessly hard- working team of staff and volunteers, aided by the generous support of our donors, sponsors and corporate partners. On any given night we provide a home away from home for 102 families with seriously ill children. Three of our four Houses are located within walking distance from children’s major paediatric medical facilities, families can draw on the strength of each other in a time of crisis. All our houses are equipped with communal kitchens, dining room, lounge areas and laundry facilities. Families are encouraged to prepare their favourite meal and share it together. Research has shown that families that access our services suffer from far less post-traumatic stress.
