REED Charitable Foundation is a public 501(c)(3) whose mission is to empower the dyslexic community and end the global literacy crisis by ensuring Orton-Gillingham (OG) teacher training is accessible to all while providing exceptional content and a meaningful community to those on the dyslexia journey. RCF envisions a world where we have fundamentally changed the education system so that all dyslexic students, as well as their peers, are truly literate and empowered to learn, identify their inherent strengths and reach their fullest potential.

RCF works daily to achieve this mission by training teachers across the US and beyond in OG (for free or at an extremely reduced rate), which is considered the gold standard in literacy instruction for all children and vital for struggling readers and those identified with dyslexia. Further, RCF provides implementation instruction to educators after they have been trained so that they become proficient in implementing OG to fidelity for ensured success for all. In addition, RCF provides free Community Education Events that promise exceptional content and meaningful fellowship to attendees. These events feature experts in areas related to dyslexia, neurodiversity, ADHD, medication, mental health, assistive technology and so much more. These events may also feature famous or exceptional dyslexics who share their stories of struggle and strengths.

RCF also hosts its annual signature fundraiser in October for Dyslexia Awareness Month. Every year we choose a different dyslexic strength to celebrate and then scour the globe looking for the best kids and professionals in those skillsets to highlight and honor. It is a two-night event that is uplifting, empowering and one-of-kind, just like the amazing kids we serve.

RCF hopes to grow into providing accessible OG tutoring for struggling readers as soon as we can but as slow as we must. There is a huge need for specialized tutoring and it is often both financially and geographically unaccessible to the vast majority of students. RCF is determined to help solve that problem over time.

Donors should support RCF because the literacy crisis impacts us all. 66% of our Nation's children cannot read at a 4th grade level. The inability to read proficiently leads to a host of devastating problems for an individual and ultimately for our society as a whole. This is not a problem that any of us can afford to turn a blind eye to - and there is not a single societal cause that is not drastically improved if we are successful in our mission to ensure that the 95% of the population that is cognitively able to read, actually could.
