Pound Paws Rescue works with the community to save dogs and puppies in rural and remote South Island New Zealand from some of the most desperate situations.  From unwanted farm pups, to dogs on death row at the pounds, and surrendered family pets, we are often the last hope for many rural South Island dogs.  We advocate for desexing, offer assistance to struggling pet owners, and provide veterinary treatment for the dogs that come into our care.  We are a growing, passionate team of fosterers and volunteers who care for, socialise and rehabilitate all the rescued dogs in our own homes (we have no shelter) until forever homes can be found.  Giving pups a chance to live their best lives, and seeing the joy they bring to their new families, is why we do what we do!  We are totally self-funded and rely on our own fundraising efforts and donations from the public.

Some of our dogs are needing extra care such as x-rays, surgeries, dental work, physio, behaviourial, special diets. Our dogs are all are temperament tested, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, registered, flea/worm treated. We ask for a donation towards these costs.
