We love our Poundies! Pound Hounds Rescue was started back in 2017 when the Waikato SPCA shut down and many of the local rescues had to take on the overflow of emergency and owners surrenders created by this. Rachel and Helen found that because of this, the wonderful dogs in our pounds (Poundies) were being forgotten. We decided we wanted to do something and three years later, here we are. No longer just Waipa based, we now work with Animal Control teams around the North Island to take in Poundies and give them their chance at their new forever. All our Poundies go into foster care while they are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, health checked and council registered before heading off to their new families and wonderful new forevers. More recently we have also undertaken our new "No Parvo No Puppies" community outreach program, our goal is to eradicate parvo and unwanted litters from our communities by offering free and discounted vaccinations and desexing for those in our community who may not be in a position to afford it. All of this takes money and with the current situation in NZ and not being able to fundraise for our kids, funds are tight. We will do whatever it takes to take care of our Poundies but we sure could use your help too. Please consider voting for us.
