Polyglot Theatre
We are seeking your support for Polyglot's community programs that use art and theatre to empower, develop and support young people to discover their potential. 5678 Film Club runs after school film workshops for young people in their vulnerable transition years (school years 5,6,7 and 8) from diverse cultural background who face social and economic disadvantage as opportunities to learn, lead and create quality film projects that are screened for public audiences. A recent evaluation of the program found that the film club has had a profound impact on the students in terms of problem solving, social connections, school engagement and had assisted students to gain entry to highly competitive secondary schools. The Film Club has become very popular, and resources for film artists and supervision at workshops are already stretched so that the project is now faced with having to limit numbers and to turn children away. To enable the program to continue working with secondary students, and welcome all new interested Year 5 students at the participating school into the program, resources are required to recruit additional film artists to work with the students, facilitate film making excursions (both to shoot on location, and learn from experts at studios) and finalise development of a student led teachers' guide to help other schools start their own 5678 Film Club.
