Patriot Service Dogs is a small nonprofit accredited by Assistance Dogs International that trains and places service dogs with veterans living with PTSD and other service-related disabilities at no cost. Our program brings together three communities, veterans, incarcerated women, and dedicated volunteers, through the shared work of raising and training service dogs. Puppies are developed from an early age by volunteer raisers and advance through our WOOF Prison Program, where incarcerated women serve as primary trainers, building the dogs’ skills over time. Veterans are carefully matched with a dog and complete individualized training as a team. This model creates a dual impact, highly trained service dogs that support veteran independence and purpose-driven opportunities for women in the program, all sustained by a committed volunteer community.
