On November 8, 2018, the Camp Fire devastated the town of Paradise and surrounding Ridge communities in Northern California. In a matter of hours, approximately 95% of the buildings in Paradise were lost. Homes, businesses, schools, churches, neighborhoods and, 85 precious lives, were taken.

Years later, our community is rebuilding. But recovery from a disaster of this magnitude is about much more than rebuilding structures.

People are still rebuilding their homes. They are still rebuilding their businesses. They are still rebuilding their health, their relationships, their sense of community, and their lives.

Paradise Stronger was created from the belief that a stronger community begins with stronger people.

Today, Paradise Stronger serves the Ridge as a nonprofit hub for health, wellness, fitness, resiliency, and connection. Our work reaches far beyond the walls of a fitness center. We provide programs for children, families, adults and seniors; wellness education; senior fitness; community events; mental health and resiliency opportunities; food-security programs; a community garden; hiking and outdoor activities; and partnerships that bring people together.

We are helping our community move forward, physically, mentally, emotionally and socially.

But our vision is even bigger.

We envision a permanent wellness campus for the Paradise Ridge: a place where people of every age and ability can exercise, swim, walk, gather, learn, grow food, play, connect and simply belong. We envision a 24-hour fitness center, indoor pool, walking paths, basketball court, yoga and wellness spaces, playground, community garden and café, outdoor gathering areas, and an amphitheater, all designed around one purpose:

Helping people build healthier lives while helping Paradise build a stronger future.

The Camp Fire will always be part of our story, but we do not want it to be the end of our story.

Paradise is coming back. New homes are rising. Families are returning. Children are growing up here again. Neighbors are reconnecting. And alongside rebuilding the physical infrastructure of our town, we have an opportunity to build something just as important: a healthier, more connected and resilient community for generations to come.

That is what Paradise Stronger is working toward every day.
