Our Daily Bread Food Pantry (ODBFP) provides nutritious food to reduce food insecurity for the residents of Marco Island and the surrounding communities in Collier County, Florida.ODBFP began in 2016 when a Collier County teacher told a group of women that her students were coming to school hungry on Monday morning because they didn’t have access to food over the weekend. The five women founders of ODBFP came together and decided to help.The women began filling bags with nutritious food every Friday to send home with children in need to feed them over the weekend. As demand increased, a local church closet was needed to serve as an emergency food resource. Between the school and the closet, what became known as Our Daily Bread Food Pantry assisted 3,600 children and individuals with food. While ODBFP still operates the backpack program, our services have expanded to include all people who are experiencing food insecurity in Collier County. ODBFP serves Collier County, FL where over 38,000 people live in a state of food hunger and insecurity. Of those, 7,600 are children who don’t have regular access to food. ODBFP works everyday with families that are facing food insecurity to support these Collier County residents living in poverty. Once a week, 30 pounds of groceries are provided to guests from our main pantry in Marco Island. Six days a week, ODBFP provides food to 20 mobile locations. In total, ODBFP offers 59 outreaches a month in Collier County. In 2023, ODBFP anticipates serving 220,000 people with over 2.0M pounds of nutritious food (following USDA Meal Plan guidelines), alleviating the financial burden of costly groceries for families and providing children with nutritious food.
