peration Restore Hope (ORH) is an Australian based surgical charity for less fortunate children in the Philippines with birth defects and deformities, especially cleft lip and cleft palate. The charity was founded in 1993 by Sydney Plastic Surgeon, Dr Darryl Hodgkinson and has carried out more than 2,500 operations. It also provided countless other medical services, especially dental, to its recipients. Three surgical missions are sent to Cebu and Luzon each year to help the problem in a practical, hands on manner. We also partner with The Gurango Craniofacial Foundation in Manila to treat more difficult cases on an ongoing basis that are not suited to a mission environment. What makes Operation Restore Hope unique is that everyone in our organization is a volunteer, from our surgeons, anaesthetists and nurses to our administrators and accountants. This means that your donations go directly to helping children in need and not to overheads. Furthermore, Operation Restore Hope returns to the same communities every year where we not only provide medical equipment and supplies but partner with local medical professionals and NGOs to ensure that pre-operative screening and after care are available.
