NorCal Bully Breed Rescue (NBBR) was founded in 2013 and in the last five years has rescued over 600 dogs. The rescue focuses on medically compromised in the shelter system but also takes in owner surrenders, strays, and some healthy dogs from shelters. Over the last several years, NBBR has developed a strong foster support network of over 70 fosters, of which, at least 45 are fostering year-round, often times fostering more than one NBBR dog at a time. Our rescue program has grown in size, but more importantly, NBBR has grown our ability to train our fosters through enhanced protocols with an emphasis on safety and medical care. NBBR has put a community emphasis on promoting responsible ownership of bully breeds, fighting against breed discrimination, spaying and neutering pets, reporting dog fighting, and demonstrating to the community that bully breeds are loyal, loving, and wonderful forever companions. Throughout the years, we have strove to to educate the public on what a wonderful breed these dogs truly are. All of our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. We ensure the safety of our dogs by doing extensive home checks and participating in all "meet and greets" with other dogs in potential adopters homes. We specialize in rescuing pit bulls, however no animal in dire need of rescue is turned away. We have recently put an emphasis on senior an hospice rescues and are seeking funding to continue to pursue this special cause.
