About us
At New York Sun Works. we believe every child deserves a sustainable future. We're a New York City-based non-profit that builds hydroponic classrooms in city schools, pairing them with our K-12th grade curriculum to teach science, sustainability, and climate education through the lens of urban farming. As they grow hundreds of pounds of fresh produce to share with their families, students explore core science concepts, climate justice and environmental issues. Our program runs throughout the school year as a part of each school’s regular curriculum, with comprehensive teacher professional development and support to ensure the program's success. From our first hydroponic classroom in 2010, we're now in 250+ partner schools and growing. In 2023 alone, we're reaching 120,000 K-12th grade students, the majority of whom come from low-income and historically underserved communities! At this critical time for our students and our planet, we're proud to be delivering the education students need for the future they deserve!
