My name is Stacy Billingslea and I am the founder of Milo’s Dog Rescue of South Florida, Inc., a 501c3 not-for-profit dog and cat rescue organization located in Pompano Beach, FL. Our organization is entirely privately funded, 100% of the funds go directly toward rescuing, rehabilitating and placing dogs and cats in loving homes after being found on the streets or turned in by families that can no longer care for their pet. Milo’s has no paid employees and all volunteers committed to Milo’s provide assistance out of the goodness of their hearts which means more funds go directly to the animals. My entire life I have rescued animals. Approximately 11 years ago, I began actively volunteering with another rescue group. Over the course of a few years, I began to see that the animals at the rescue were not being treated properly, funds were at times being misappropriated and sufficient home checks were not being conducted. My children and I made the decision to start our own rescue.
