Midsouth Animal Welfare Foundation
About us
Midsouth Animal Welfare Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit rescue in rural Mississippi with dedicated volunteers whose mission is to save dogs that are abandoned; dogs given up by their owners because of difficult circumstances or those in danger of abuse or animal neglect. Midsouth is proud to assist the Prentiss County Sheriff's Department with dog cruelty cases when needed. Our rescue is 100% volunteer driven, and all funds are used for vaccines, spay/neuter services or medical care. Dogs are microchipped and spayed and neutered prior to going to our coordinated rescue partners or adopters. Our goal is to reduce the high rate of euthanasia in Mississippi (the state's euthanasia rate is approximately 18% higher than the national average), support pro-active spay/neuter practices, provide medical care and rehabilitate these dogs when needed, in preparation for their permanent adoptive homes. Since 2017, when our rescue was founded, we’re proud that our hands-on work through the dedication of committed volunteers has led to saving over 4,000 dogs’ lives.
