Lubee Bat Conservancy is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving bats and their habitats through conservation, education, and awareness. Lubee places animal care, conservation, and education as its three core purposes. As a USDA registered and AZA certified zoological institution, animal welfare is held to the highest standard ensuring the bats receive the best care in line with modern zoological practices and philosophies. Our conservation and education programs connect children with nature, foster environmental stewardship, and inspire the next generation of conservationists to become community leaders. Located in Gainesville, Florida, Lubee houses over 150 bats where they spend their days playing and socializing. Staff run education programs inform the public about the critical relationship between bats, ecosystems and human health. In FL, these programs reach over 30,000 people annually. Our social media channels have over 2.2 million followers, allowing us the opportunity to teach the importance of bats to people all over the world. Working with a global team of scientists, educators and zoological professionals, Lubee has addressed diverse threats faced by endangered species in 25 countries. Projects have included empowerment of women's groups, job creation, forest protection, school construction, and conservation of imperiled species.
