Founded in 2013, Lancaster Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (LSPCA) is a nonprofit rescue organization in South Carolina funded entirely through donations from individuals and corporate sponsors. In addition to rescuing the most critical-need animals in our community, LSPCA is committed to providing educational programs promoting ethical treatment of animals. LSPCA provides low-cost spay/neuter resources to control the overpopulation of unwanted and discarded pets that fill our shelters. LSPCA is an all-volunteer organization and has no paid staff or shelter facilities. All animals are housed with volunteer fosters. Lancaster SPCA operates in Lancaster County South Carolina and other local areas rescuing abandoned or owner-surrendered animals. Our volunteers work directly with Lancaster County Animal Shelter staff to help with extreme medical cases that are out-of-reach for the county budget and to help find homes for animals that may otherwise be euthanized. Since being founded, Lancaster SPCA volunteers have helped find homes for well over 3000 dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens.
