Since 2012, The KKIS Project has empowered students in the Riviera Maya by removing barriers to education. From backpacks and school supplies to full-ride scholarships and mentorship, KKIS helps students thrive in public school and beyond. As a bi-national NGO operating in both the U.S. and Mexico, KKIS believes that education changes everything: lives, families, and communities. We’re proud to be one of the most trusted ONGs in Playa del Carmen focused on education. We have three main programs: Scholarships for outstanding students that face financial barriers to enrolling in public high school (it unfortunately has a high cost even though it is meant to be public education) or public or private university, School Supplies (we deliver governmnet-mandated school supply bags at the beginning of each school year in public kinder, elementary and middle schools, focusing on underserved communities. Last year we delivered almost 3,000 school bags), and Community Connection programs such as our English Conversation Club that links Playa Del Carmen's expat community with local students learning english.
