Khadija Leadership Network

About us

Khadija Leadership Network was established in 2017 to challenge the stereotypes that are imposed upon Muslim women and in the process, own our narrative.

Did you know that Khadija was the wife of Prophet Muhammed (Peace be upon him)? She was also an esteemed businesswoman in a patriarchal society, initially Muhammed’s employer, then his older wife and eventually his biggest confidant and advisor.

Our mission is to develop leaders who serve and we do this through leadership development, capacity building and advocacy work.

We are led by Islamic values – in alignment with this, we embrace diversity and inclusion and welcome all beliefs, races, genders and sexual orientations.

Some of our previous work includes:

  • Our Hijrah – Stories of the contribution of Muslim women in New Zealand
  • Co-hosting the ‘Lets Deal With It: A Trans-Tasman Campaign Towards Facilitating Racial Equity’ Conference in 2019
  • Annual New Zealand Muslim Awards
  • Auckland vigil of the March 15 terror attacks
  • 51 Minutes of Kindness

We are committed to this mahi which we hope will enable sustainable change not only within the Muslim community but also in the wider community. To do this, we need your support. He waka eke noa!
