Keweenaw Wild Bird R.E.C. The R stands for Rehabilitation: Our mission is to rehabilitate injured, orphaned, and sick native wild birds with the goal of eventual release back to the wild. The E stands for Education and C for Conservation In addition, school-aged education programs focusing on wild birds and nature preservation, as well as conservation projects preserving local native wild bird populations will be our focus. We feel strongly that rehabilitation,education,and conservation should be intertwined to help our feathered friends. Educating the public, especially children, about the importance of birds to our ecosystems and how we can preserve and protect them, ultimately reducing the amount of birds we need to rehabilitate, is our long term goal.
