Kentucky Dachshund Rescue exists for the dogs who fall through every crack — seniors, abandoned pets, puppy mill survivors, strays with nowhere safe to go, and beloved companions whose families can no longer care for them. In a region where shelters are overwhelmed and resources are limited, we step in so these dogs are not forgotten.

Every dog in our care enters a foster home where they receive medical treatment, warm beds, stability, and the kind of love that helps them heal. Instead of a cement floor or a crowded shelter, they get a family who teaches them trust, comfort, and what it means to belong.

Once they’re ready, we match each dog with an adoptive home through a thoughtful and supportive process. Our fosters help guide placements, and we follow up long after adoption to ensure each dog continues to thrive.

We never euthanize for space or convenience. Only when a dog is at the end of life, and a peaceful passing is the most compassionate choice, do we say goodbye.
