About us
The Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) is much more than an animal shelter; we’re a resource to our entire community. Our goal is to improve the lives of North Texas pets and the people who love them. That is why we offer a variety of innovative, affordable and lifesaving services to our community.
HSNT was founded in 1905 and is the oldest animal welfare organization in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. We provide services such as pet adoptions, low-cost spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations, returning lost pets to their owners, and cruelty investigations. HSNT operates five pet adoption centers and a transition facility in Tarrant County, as well as an equine and livestock ranch located in Johnson County. HSNT saves thousands of homeless, neglected, or injured pets. In 2021, HSNT touched the lives of more than 17,000 pets and achieved a live release rate of 96%.
HSNT does more with less and is not affiliated with any national organization. We are proud to be recognized as a 4-star charity by Charity Navigator, putting us in the top 1% of all charities nationwide, with respect to governance, financial accountability and transparency. We add Feature Views for every $ you pay.
