Patient Pet Advocates provides animal-related assistance for those facing a medical crisis. We provide re-homing services, temporary fostering, food, supplies, veterinary care, medication, transportation, education, and pre-planning services for no cost to clients in Lane County, Oregon. We serve those who are facing end-of-life, life-altering medical diagnoses, and the families of those who have recently passed away. Patient Pet Advocates was founded by a hospice nurse and a hospice social worker who witnessed the stress and grief of those facing the end of their life, but having no way to make sure their animal companions would be cared for in their absence. We also meet the needs of patients who may otherwise refuse care for themselves because there is no one to care for their pets. PPA steps in to assist when a client needs a helping hand to keep their pet at home as long as possible. We do not have shelter facilities, so all the pets in our care are in homes with foster volunteers.
