About us
Okanogan County Animal Foster Care Association, known as Animal Foster Care Cat Shelter, is a non-profit, no-kill cat shelter dedicated to providing a safe haven for cats until they can find a home. We rely solely on dedicated volunteers and the donations of our wonderful supporters to care for the cats of Okanogan County. AFC is a no kill shelter. Only in extreme cases, where a cat has no hope of any quality of life, is it euthanized. Cats with treatable illnesses or diseases live out their lives at the shelter or in foster homes, and receive proper treatment or palliative care for the remainder of their lives. We have taken in over 18,000 cats and kittens which is an inconceivable amount for our rural location and high poverty area. Our shelter is always at or over capacity and rely on our transfer partners to help relieve the over crowding. This in turn allows us to help more animals. AFC is always in need of volunteers, funding, and supplies to care for our large intake of cats/kittens, many of which require extensive vet and medical care. Any grant funding is much appreciated as we serve the low-income, rural area of Okanogan County, the largest county in Washington state.
