Every year, 600 families living in Aotearoa NZ are told their child has a heart condition. - whether that is diagnosed before birth or if previously healthy children are diagnosed with a heart condition following an illness such as rheumatic fever. These children and their whānau need support as they navigate the huge challenges of living with a childhood heart condition.

Heart Kids New Zealand is the only organisation in Aotearoa NZ dedicated to supporting heart children and their whānau, providing vital support services which include information, training, education, psycho-social support, specialist equipment, camps, family matching, social affiliation and financial assistance.

We have a specialised family support team throughout the country to provide practical and emotional support to heart children and their families during their time in hospital and when they return home to their community.

There is a network of branches in regions throughout the country which provide extra support for families. Our branches give heart families the opportunity to come together to share experiences and ideas or just have fun with others going through a similar journey.

We are not-for-profit and receive no government funding. We are reliant on the generosity of the public to fund our service.
