🌊 Guarding the Giants: Protect Puerto Rico’s Sea Turtles with 7Quillas
Our Mission
At 7Quillas San Juan Sea Turtle Conservancy Group, we are a 100% volunteer-powered, 501(c)(3) community nonprofit officially authorized by the Puerto Rico Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DNER).
Our mission is simple yet vital: to protect endangered sea turtles and their nesting habitats along the urban beaches of San Juan (including Ocean Park and Condado), while educating the community on the absolute necessity of thriving marine ecosystems.

Our name, Siete Quillas (Seven Keels), honors the majestic Leatherback sea turtle (tinglar), the largest sea turtle on Earth, named for the seven distinct ridges running down its leathery shell.

Since 2014, our dedicated volunteers have patrolled the coastlines day and night, standing between endangered species and urban threats like light pollution, beach erosion, and human disturbance.
• 210+ Endangered Leatherback nests actively monitored and protected.
• 3,100+ Baby sea turtles safely guided to the ocean.
• 100% Volunteer-run—every single dollar raised goes directly to conservation, habitat restoration, and education.
• 1 Out of 1,000 hatchlings normally survive to adulthood without protection. We are changing those odds.
