Fairgate Farm is a volunteer-driven, urban farm nestled within the Vita Health & Wellness District on the West Side of Stamford, Connecticut. Our mission is to provide equitable access to fresh, nutritious produce and to strengthen the community through educational and community building initiatives linked through the cultivation of healthy fruits and vegetables. In recent years, Fairgate Farm has successfully leveraged federal, state and philanthropic resources to expand programming, broadening its impact in the community.    Fairgate Farm was created to improve access and increase consumption of, healthy, local food, and is primarily focused on low-income residents of the West Side neighborhood of Stamford. Residents of the West Side face significant barriers to maintaining their health and wellness, including restricted access to healthy food, racial and economic segregation and poor educational attainment, having some of the highest rates of chronic illness and poorest social determinants of health in the Stamford metro region.    

   Fairgate Farm is not only an active organic farm, but also a place to build social ties and, by extension, help build community. Fairgate Farm volunteers are encouraged to share skills and experiences, learn how to protect our environment and improve their physical and mental well-being in the process.
