This organization was started by children who wanted to help the many horses in the Grand Valley, Grand Junction, Colorado  who needed new homes. They had learned through a school project that there was a great need to rescue horses from terrible situations, to re-train them and find them their forever homes. 

Many of these horses are purchased at auction that were destined for slaughter without intervention. Some of the horses have been terribly mistreated, neglected and abused. Some of the horses come from the BLM adoption programs that are from wild horse herds in Colorado.

The children, of all ages, come to the barn to learn about horses, how to groom them, and how to take care of them. They learn basic ground work and horsemanship working up to riding and competing at local gymkhana and dressage events. 

From recent testimonies, children who have commented about how coming to work with the horses has made a huge difference in their life, they feel more confident, they are doing better at home and school. Parents have commented that their children are more cooperative at home, doing chores without asking and improved behavior overall.

This is a program that functions through generous donations from the public and supporters of horses and children. Donations help purchase feed for the horses, basis barn expenses, vet bills and more. There are also opportunities to sponsor a horse or cover the cost for a child to attend who might not otherwise afford to come to the program.
