About us
The Good Samaritan Health Center of Gwinnett operates two full-service safety-net clinics, serving as a healthcare home in the community. Our mission is to demonstrate the love of Christ by providing quality, affordable, and accessible medical and dental services, as well as medication assistance, to the working poor and anyone uninsured in the Northeast Atlanta area. We provide care for the “whole person” to bring about personal and community transformation.
Our goals are to:
• Provide quality, low-cost primary and preventative medical and dental services and deeply discounted medications to the poor and uninsured.
• Decrease demand of the uninsured for non-emergent services at the emergency room.
• Provide student and veteran healthcare professionals with experience serving disadvantaged populations.
Our goals are not just aspirations but a roadmap to eliminating health disparities for the poor and uninsured. By increasing access to quality medical and dental care, we reduce the cost of indigent care in the public health delivery system. We also strive to raise awareness among medical professionals of the unique needs and challenges faced by the poor and uninsured.
Since opening in June 2005, we have steadily grown to meet the explosive growth of our community. We have provided medical, dental, and medication assistance to over 58,000 patients, resulting in more than 325,253 patient visits. More than 90% of our patients are immigrants and minorities seeking a path to wellness while working low-income jobs to support their families. Representing seventy countries of origin, our patients are primarily Hispanic (81%), married (41%), women (63%), about 40 years old (range: 1-98), with a median household income of $25,564 supporting 3.8 individuals (70% FPL). Eighty-seven percent are employed in low-wage jobs to support their families.
In 2024, two clinics provided services to 6,107 unique patients, resulting in 24,228 patient visits, a total value of care of $12,967,980, and an economic impact exceeding $30 million. We currently have 53 employees and 104 volunteers, who have donated a total of 7,751 hours, estimated to be worth $275,512. Our patients have access to affordable, high-quality healthcare, effectively removing inequitable barriers for impoverished families to achieve better health outcomes, increase family stability, make healthier lifestyle choices, and be more productive and engaged in the workforce.
