Girls Rock! DC works at the intersection of art and activism, providing music programs for young people to learn, grow, and use the power of their communities.

Girls Rock! DC serves more than 200 young people and adults each year in our after-school programs, camps, and workshops. We foster a supportive, inclusive, and equitable space that centers girls and non-binary youth, especially Black and Brown youth. Since our founding in 2007, our unique approach to music education -- through a social justice and equity lens -- has allowed DC's young folks to build their self-empowerment, self-advocacy, and leadership skills, all led by role models from their own community. Our participants go on to be more engaged learners, more thoughtful artists, and more confident community leaders. In other words, they become true rock stars.
