Galgos del Sol is a large rescue based in Murcia, Spain, registered in the UK & USA that rescues abandoned and injured galgos (Spanish hunting greyhounds) as well as other Spanish sighthounds, rehabilitates them and finds them forever homes in the United Kingdom, United States, Spain and Belgium. Thousands of these dogs are abandoned or killed annually at the end of a short hare hunting season. Not typically considered to be potential pets in Spain, they typically relinquished to perreras (pounds), where their lives are ended in inhumane ways. Galgos del Sol is entirely dependent on fundraising to care for their 200+ hounds and is run by founder Tina Solera who is assisted by a group of dedicated local and international volunteers.
