EOI is Iowa’s only agency solely focused on adolescent sexual health. For over 25 years, EOI’s vision has been to create a culture in which all Iowa teens are sexually healthy and receive comprehensive, medically accurate, age-appropriate sexual health information.   

Because of the work of EyesOpenIowa and so many of our colleagues throughout Iowa, people are finally starting to understand the full impact of sex education. There is greater understanding that in addition to offering pregnancy and STI prevention, sex education is the primary – and often only – curriculum that teaches kids about boundary setting, consent, valuing health care and services, and how to develop healthy relationships. These skills seem more essential than ever, and with increasing attacks on sex education and young people’s access to information, EOI’s work has taken on greater importance as well.
