MADACC provides animal care and control services for the nineteen municipalities of Milwaukee County. We currently rescue and assure safe, temporary shelter, and basic veterinary and humane care for over 12,000 stray, unwanted, abandoned, mistreated and injured animals every year - that's more than ANY other animal control organization in the state of Wisconsin. Facilities like MADACC are often derogatorily referred to as "the pound." As one of the most misunderstood organizations in the community, we often have to contend with rumor and speculation. Because we are an "open admission" facility, we take any animal that crosses our threshold - sick, injured, abused and neglected. For those that go unclaimed and are successfully treated, we adopt out to the community and transfer to rescue partners across the state. In 2024, more than 5,100 animals were adopted out and nearly 2,100 transferred to rescue partners. 

Who are Friends of MADACC (FoM)? We are the non-profit fundraising arm of MADACC providing wellness programs that focus on helping families keep their pets healthy; community education around the safe and humane treatment of pets; and financial support to help MADACC best care for our community's stray and abandoned animal population. FoM provides MADACC with food, collars, leashes, beds, enrichment toys, and many other items that would not be possible without donations and support from our community. Touching the lives of our residents in at-risk communities, FoM conducts free shot and microchip clinics where food and critical supplies are available for free to those in need. And to help support the pet population, FoM has supported and funded countless spay and neuter surgeries to those that otherwise could not afford them.
